Excellent signed proof impression from the only edition, printed by the artist himself.
Matching, Essex is one of the most skilful of the highly accomplished aquatint landscapes of Charles Henry Baskett. Based in Essex, C.H. Baskett took up printmaking in 1910 and by 1922 had produced nearly 100 plates, almost all of these were aquatints depicting the low-lying countryside and coastline of the locality.
On cream simile Japan paper with full margins, as issued. Minor creasing at upper right corner of sheet, otherwise very good original condition. |
