Excellent proof impression with fresh unfaded colours, signed and numbered ‘69’ from the only edition. Printed in colours from six zinc plates using the method which William Giles invented for colour printmaking. An impression of this work was in the British Museum amongst ‘new colour prints’ in 1915 under the title The Source & Sacred Pastures of Clitunnus.
On wove Japan-style paper, with full margins, as issued. Some minor discoloration in margins; reverse surface of sheet in outer margin at upper right corner (verso only) has been conserved due to slight surface degradation. Image surface in very fine condition. |
