Original Francis Seymour Haden etching with drypoint.
Excellent impression with strong etched line, printed with pale brown plate tone.
This splendid fishing subject has allowed Francis Seymour Haden to combine his two favourite pastimes – etching and angling. In the second state of this plate the angler was first introduced, seated at the right corner of the image. In this, the completed state of the plate, the angler has been moved and is now seen wading in the river, his rod held out before him. A group of fish which he has caught lie on the bank in the foreground.
On cream laid F J Head paper. With full margins and deckle edge. Very fine original condition. |
