Early working proof impression. Mary Annie Sloane's personal working proof.

An extremely early working proof impression printed under considerable pressure to show the artist every detail on the plate; the upper platemark has cracked as a natural result of the pressure of printing and the edges of the sheet have watercolour tape, apparently for fixing to a board as Mary Annie Sloane's master working proof.

This is a comparatively large and elaborate landscape for M.A.Sloane, most of whose landscape views were made on relatively small-scale plates. The image has yet to be developed and remains essentially in outline at this early stage. Both the title of the work and location of the church depicted remain unknown.

On antique-style laid paper, watermarked Abbey Mills Greenfield, with full margins and deckle edge. Condition as described above, otherwise generally good original condition for an artist's working proof of this nature.
