Lewis C.E. Baumer was a highly successful book illustrator, who also worked for many years making drawings for Punch and other magazines. An author in his own right, he published a number of illustrated books from 1897 onwards, his work being epitomised by his Bright Young Things of 1928.
As an original printmaker Lewis Baumer specialised in the portrayal of graceful young women. He worked primarily in drypoint, displaying a beautifully open, fluid style. |
