Charles William Taylor had worked as a commercial engraver for thirteen years before he first turned to art. This background is clearly apparent in his choice of technique when working on metal plates – namely, line engraving, either pure or used in combination with etching. In this respect C.W.Taylor was one of the early protagionists in the modern revival of line engraving in England. His workmanship as a printmaker is notable for its exceptionally fine technique and exquisite craftsmanship. [more] |
