Edmund Blampied is, without question, the most famous artist to have emerged from the Island of Jersey. Through his upbringing on a Jersey farm until the age of fifteen, Edmund Blampied had acquired an indelible knowledge of rural life which enabled him to depict his subjects, entirely from memory, throughout his career. Having achieved his initial success as an illustrator and satirical cartoonist, Edmund Blampied became established as one of the finest original printmakers of his generation.
