Original Charles Holroyd etching.
Very good signed proof impression with pronounced etched line, printed with considerable plate tone.
One of Charles Holroyd’s last recorded etchings, this image shows a statue in a garden in Portugal. Charles Holroyd had made etchings at Penha Verde some years previously, back in 1910. His later etchings such as Fountain of Neptune, Penha Verde were produced during his spare time away from museum administration.

On cream simile Japan paper with full margins and deckle edge. Faintest suggestion of unobtrusive foxing in outer margins, otherwise very good original condition. Image surface, excellent. |
