Excellent signed proof impression, the burr of the drypoint printing rich and fresh. From the only edition of 80 signed and numbered proofs.
This image shows an interior at Murano, with glass-blowers at work. The portly figure seated near the centre of the image is the famous glass-blower, Seguso. The plate is based upon two watercolours made on the spot on 22nd September 1925. Although depicting a scene at Murano, this drypoint is considered to be one of James McBey’s ‘Venetian’ plates.
On heavy cream laid paper, with full margins and deckle edge. Very fine original condition. Image surface excellent. |
