The famous French actress Sarah Bernhardt established her name at the Comédie Française in Paris. Leon Gaucherel’s marvellous symbolist image dates from the year in which Bernhardt left the Comédie to tour worldwide with a company her own.
On cream coloured vellum, with full margins. Time tone in outer margins, otherwise generally good original condition. |
