Excellent impression of this scarce unpublished work, with rich drypoint burr.
The artist’s finest view of Corfe.
James Hamilton Hay made eight plates of Corfe and the adjacent villages of both Corfe itself and Arfleet in 1914.
Provenance: The artist’s estate via his sister Maria Hay – the sole known impression.
None of James Hamilton Hay’s plates was ever published in a formal edition and all are now scarce.
On fine laid simile Japan paper, with full margins and deckle edge. Very slight marginal foxing, otherwise very fine original condition. Image surface excellent. |
