Excellent signed proof impression with rich mezzotint burr. A proof from the only edition, as mounted for exhibition by the artist himself.

This dramatic image with its striking effects of light is one of the only pure mezzotints to have been made by Leonard Brammer. Through its very nature, mezzotint requires the artist to work in the reverse to etching and line engraving, by working from a plate which would print pure black and creating the image though the introduction of light areas, rather than working from a plate which would print white until incised lines holding black ink are introduced.

On smooth wove paper applied to original exhibition mount, with margins as prepared by the artist. Generally very good condition.
