Excellent signed proof impression of this large independent algraph, printed in in blue, red and black inks with olive tint plate and silver highlights.
Mondscheingeiger is an original algraph - a form of hand made lithograph printed from aluminium plates (a process first described in 1892 by Josef Scholz in Mainz). The principal image is printed in black ink whilst the background colours have been printed from separate plates and a special silver ink has been used to form the bright white of the moon itself and the highlights created by its pale light.
On heavy cream wove paper with full margins and deckle edge. Generally very good original condition. |
