Excellent impression of this scarce original etching by Charles West Cope. From the only edition, as published in 1844 for the scarce Etching Club folio entitled Etch’d Thoughts. Set to lines by Bishop Hall, this etching depicts a young Victorian woman looking up in a moment of prayer towards heaven, before embarking on her studies with her books.
On off-white china paper applied to original warm white wove backing sheet, with margins. Very good original condition. Image surface excellent. |
