A Silver Tide demonstrates Frank Short’s painterly use of the aquatint medium to the full. An astonishingly versatile printmaker, Sir Frank Short appears to have achieved an absolute mastery of each and every printmaking technique to which he turned his hand. In this delicate work Frank Short has used the subtle gradations of tone obtainable through skillful use of the aquatint medium, combined with careful inking of the plate, to create the effects of reflected light across the surface of the water which fills this image. A Silver Tide shows high tide at the head of Bosham Harbour, near Chichester.

On pale cream laid paper, watermarked O.W.P & A.C.L, with full margins and deckle edge. Excellent original condition.
