Original Frank Brangwyn etching.
Labourers are the subject of many of Sir Frank Brangwyn’s works; however, Brangwyn’s eye was ever drawn to objects of considerable scale – in this etching, the hay cart itself is the artist’s focus of attention. Based upon a sketch made at Montreuil, this was one of four subjects etched especially for the scarce Newbolt catalogue of 1908.
On warm cream simile Japan paper with margins. Mild mat line, otherwise very good original condition. Image surface excellent. |
