Original H.A. Freeth etching and aquatint.
A particularly fine signed proof impression of this large etching with aquatint.
Freeth had first begun to use the technique of aquatint after the Second World War, when working on his commission for depictions of mineworkers for the National Coal Board. Fishermen in Algeciras is an especially fine example of his later work in this medium, displaying how the artist’s style had widened away from pure portraiture towards images of figures set in landscape.
On cream wove paper with full margins and deckle edge. Excellent original condition. |
