Carl Ruckdeschel

[Wayfaring Piper] by Carl Ruckdeschel

[Wayfaring Piper]   c.1921

Original etching with drypoint and aquatint.
Signed and inscribed in pencil.
S 375 x 270 mm; P 187 x 125 mm; I 180 x 119 mm
Excellent signed proof impression.

The artist has created a mood of romantic naturalism in this charming work in which two wild birds accompany the music of a lone wayfarer as he lazes in a landscape with a distant alpine view.

On cream wove paper with full margins and deckle edge. Water stain at lower right corner of sheet in outer margin only, otherwise very fine original condition.
