William Neave Parker was an original printmaker who worked both in linocut and with wood engraving, producing only very small editions of ten or less impressions, normally printed on thin Japan-style paper. Parker specialised in wildlife studies and in 1937 he published an album entitled
A Picture Book of Linocuts, containing twenty linocut depictions of animals. After the Second World War he was introduced to William Elgin Swinton (1900-1994), a palaeontologist at the Natural History Museum in London and it was here that he was to spend most of his working life, engaged mainly on the reconstruction of dinosaurs and in creating illustrations of prehistoric animals which were published widely throughout the 1950's.
