John Copley was one of the pioneering masters of lithography as an original art form in this country and was one of the founders of the Senefelder Club, becoming its first honorary secretary in 1910. John Copley’s art remained both modern in style and highly innovative throughout his life.

John Copley printed the majority of his lithographs himself, often with the assistance of his wife, Ethel Gabain. He regarded the inking and printing of the stone as a continuation of the creative process, believing that only the artist himself can bring out the finest qualities in his own drawing. [more]
