Very good impression printed on cream chine appliqué on original warm white wove backing sheet, with full margins, as issued for L’Eau Forte en 1875 by Philippe Burty.
Charles Chauvel is one of the less well known etchers who continued the Barbizon ideal towards the end of nineteenth century.
Valvins is on the river Seine in the forest of Fontainbleau, only about six miles from Barbizon.
