Original Malcolm Osborne drypoint.

Excellent signed proof impression with rich drypoint burr.

Drypoint was the Malcolm Osborneā€™s favourite medium and it has allowed him the freedom to capture the varied textures of the detailed architecture with its strong shadows in this impressive composition. A remarkable record of the spectacular cathedral entrance in this southern French town, this monumental etching gives to a small section of the building such a sense of weight that the vastness of the remaining structure can be left entirely to the viewer's imagination.

On cream laid JBG Crisbrook paper with full margins and deckle edge. Mild mat line in outer margins, residue of previous tape at edges of sheet verso, otherwise very good original condition. Image surface excellent.
