Very fine signed proof impression printed in red, olive, blue-green, and brown inks.
A lingering sense of sadness and loss pervades the works of this distinctive symbolist printmaker. Three rose blooms, the traditional token of love, lie discarded upon the steps, their fallen petals at the foot of the stair, whilst the door to a lady’s house remains ajar – an emotive and poignant image.
On cream wove paper with full margins and deckle edge. Very good original condition. |
