Very rare signed proof impression on Japanese vellum, prior to the published edition. Designed as a title page for An Elegy and other Poems mainly personal by Richard Le Gallienne, this etching is very rare indeed in signed proof impressions.
This fine portrait of Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894) is one of only a very few etched portraits of the famous Scottish novelist, the other notable example being William Strang’s etched portrait of 1893.
On smooth Japanese vellum with margins. Very fine original condition. |
