Original Francis Dodd etching and drypoint.
Very good signed proof impression with strong drypoint burr. From the only edition of 118 signed proofs.
Pall Mall from the West shows the area approaching Trafalgar Square as it looked in 1912, with the National Gallery and the spire of St. Martin’s-in-the-fields in the distance. The superb topographical accuracy of Francis Dodd’s drypoints and the spontaneity with which they were executed makes them some of the finest images available of the places which they depict. The buildings at the right of this image now house the Institute of Directors.
On simile Japan paper with margins. Repaired tear in lower right margin, just affecting pencil signature, otherwise very good condition. |
