In Siesta, Saint-Jean-de-Luz John Nicolson has portrayed the lunchhour rest period in this coastal town on the Spanish-French border in a manner which can be compared directly with Edmund Blampied’s drypoint of the neighbouring town, San Sebastian (Lunch Hour) – both works having been made on a trip which the two close friends took together.
On cream laid J Whatman paper with wide margins and deckle edge. Some time tone verso only, otherwise very fine original condition. |
