Original wood engraving by Clifford Cyril Webb.

Excellent impression, from the only edition of 75 signed and numbered proofs.

Abinger Hammer is a small village in Surrey, situated between Reigate and Guildford. The village is named after the distinctive bell and bell ringer which still project from a house, overhanging the main road. Webb has highlighted the bell and bell ringer through the use of silhouette, whilst describing the other varied aspects of the village with an astonishing range of white line techniques. Abinger Hammer is an outstanding example of Webb's exceptional ability as a creative master of wood engraving technique.

On smooth cream wove paper, watermarked Basingwerk Parchment, with full margins. Generally very good original condition.
