Lionel Lindsay considered his decision to go to Spain the most important moment in his life, for it was here that he was to produce his finest drypoint works. This powerful image is one of the most splendid architectural works of Lionel Lindsay’s printed œuvre. The artist considered this to be one of his finest Spanish drypoints and chose to illustrate an impression of this subject in his book discussing his printed works (Ure Smith, Sydney, 1949).
On cream wove paper with full margins and deckle edge. Very fine original condition. Image surface excellent. |
